I'm asking primarily concerning euph, but I am guessing that most of this information would apply to tuba as well I currently have a Sovereign with the large bell on loan from a brass band I'm subbing for; I'll be purchasing a Sovereign with the smaller bell in a few days from a friend. Other than the obvious size, what are the differences between the bell sizes? I've played both horns and they are both wonderful players, but I haven't had the opportunity to sit down with both of them to compare so. . .enquiring minds want to know .

The total bell diameter doesn't make very much of a difference... but the "throat" size leading up to the end diameter does!

Just like a cornet and flugelhorn.

Thanks for the reply. Does anybody know if there is a difference in the throat size between the two different sovereign models and if so, what does that do to the horn, and why?

Depending on when I'm able to pick up my new horn and when I have to return the borrowed horn I may or may not be able to have both horns at the same time to compare them. Thank you.
