Some Tuba Serial # Help

I bought a used Kalison Daryl Smith 4/4 CC from a tuba major here at school (replaced it with a great HB-20), and we don't know where the serial number is located. There is a number on all of the slides, and a different number right under the mouthpiece receiver. He didn't know when he had it so he could not help me. All we know is that it is an older horn. If there is some way I could find out how old the horn is, that would be great too.

Hi, Kayla! I don't know if you've already tried this or not, but these are the guys who made the Kalisons:

Perhaps you could try contacting them, or maybe the Tuba Exchange, as I believe they carried Kalison for many years:

Unfortunately, I've never owned a Kalison so I can't help more than this. Good luck!

As a side note: I've owned some professional instruments that never had serial numbers on them - it can make things a little complicated for insurance, if that's what you need it for. But, then again, you can always have something unique engraved on your horn to serve as a unique identifier for insurance purposes.

I used the number near the receiver as the serial number of record for insurance purposes. Kinda seems like a dumb place for a serial number, though.

I saw that number near the receiver, and I didn't think it was that because of the rather interesting place it was, but I am going to take that number as the serial.

I love my Kalison, and I'm considering that mod that Alan Baer is doing to tuba valves. It's already had a mod where something (I forget what exactly) was opened up. I wanna say the fifth valve, but I have to talk to the previous owner.
