There seems to be no shortage of Conn threads right now, and I always like to be a "follow the pack" kind of guy.

My interest is purely curiosity right now - I'm not in the market for either. But, it appears Conn has introduced a 5JW that has a valve-set patterned after Conn's current professional-line 5XJ CC tubas.

Anybody have any insight on the newer model? Anybody played it in comparison to the older design?

Nope - that's just the wrong picture with the 5JW, I believe... Not the only time that's happened on WWBW.

According to the Conn web site, the W signifies that it comes with a wood shell case.

Had my hopes up too...
