I'm moving to Baltimore to teach in the public schools. Through a yahoo group for Baltimore teachers, I met some folk who have been trying to put together a brass quintet for two years, only missing the tuba player - yeah for me.

Now the the trombone player is leaving Baltimore for a job in PA.
I know there are trombone players on this list
Any of you trombone players work for BCPSS and want to be part of a BQ? Send me an email - tuba at music dot org.

What level of musician are you looking for? I could make a number of recommendations if you told me the level of the group.

I'm sorry I can't offer you any assistance, but I can tell you that the range of abilities of "degreed professionals" can span a
very wide range. I will admit, however, that usually there are some skills connected. I believe the request for further information that was given by mojo, was in the interest of giving you the best referral.

I know many band directors who could not"represent" on their own main instrument. And a few that could play a freelance gig on any band instrument and be convincing...

My experience isn't as broad as yours. I have only met a few who could be convincing on many instruments and no one convincing on any instrument. It's nice to know that they exist.
