Does anyone know of a list or database of tuba teachers. Or of that matter how I can locate a tuba teacher northwest of Chicago.
Thank You

Dan,
Find the web-site for Quinlan & Fabish Music. It contains a tuba teacher database. Two that I would strongly recommend:
Richard Armandi (teaches at COD, St.Xavier, and Forest Park)
Art Linsner (adjunct at DePaul and NEIU)
Richard, who studied with Arnold Jacobs, was my euuphonium teacher and also teaches double bass. Art studied with Emory Remington and Peter Crisafulli and is my current trombone teacher. He also teaches tuba and euphonium. Both are excellent teachers and accomplished performers.

Thank You for the Assistance. I have searched seval local teacher listings and have not found anyone that is North West of the Cicago area. The trek into the city would be a long one. One hour easily, longer in traffic. I will check into the sources that you are suggesting to see if they have a part of their schedule where they are traveling to the North West.
Again Thank You for your help

Travel time is certainly a factor that must be weighed in your search but there are also other considerations. I read you post on Tubanews and believe you are looking for a teacher for you son. His current ability and potential also need to be consdidered and finding a good teacher may involve a little more travel than you want. My sense is that these teachers will live and work closer to places where larger numbers of willing students may be found. Around here, that would morst likely be parts of Chicago and the close-in north, northwest, and western suburbs.
That being said, you might want to contact the local high school band directors where you live. One of them may be able to recommend a teacher closer to you. Also, if you are in a far northwest suburb, you might want to check out Beloit college which is just north of Rockford and has good music program.
