Hey does anyone know of a recording of this sonata subtitled "Child's Play" by Barbara York. The midi file on Cimarron music website is nice but id like to hear a real performance of it. I'm currently working through it right now and would like to hear some other people's interpretations, thanks!

It's a brand new piece! Most likely all you'll find now is a recital recording. There may be one after Cincinnati...

But, you don't need one. Barbara's music is straightforward enough to be pretty obvious as to what SHE was thinking, but there's plenty of things you can do to it also.

Any composer who says "no, that's how I wrote it, that's how it should be done" is insecure. That ain't BY, that's for sure. Have fun with it, that's her style in a nutshell.

The piano is almost an equal partner in the sonata, despite it being a "euphonium sonata".
Then, make your own recording!!!

With a little luck we will have a recital version fairly soon. Not sure when, but please stay tuned.

See you'all in a week at ITEC,
