If you're not worried about the lacquer, you might want to check out a golf pro shop and look at the leather "tape" that they use to cover golf club grips.

I use some on my horns on the bows of the upward slides that I pull.

I wouldn't mind having something around the bottom bow of my Thor.Do you think that golf or tennis racket leather wrap/tape could hurt the lacquer?How grippy is that neoprene knee brace(the part that would touch the chair)?

My tape's been on for the better part of 25 years, and I've never considered taking it off to check...
