Call for Student Performers- SERTEC 2005

Post by David Zerkel »

The 2005 Southeast Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (SERTEC) will take place March 24-26,2005 at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.

It is our desire for students to have performing opportunities at SERTEC. There will be three recital slots at the conference dedicated to student performances- two for solo recitals and one for quartets. In all, four euphonium soloists, four tuba soloists and two quartets will be selected to perform.

Since their will be no mock audition or solo competitions held at the conference, the selection process for the soloists and quartets is intended to be competitive and will honor the most outstanding student performers in our region. The audition process will be blind and evaluated by professionals outside of the Southeast region. The solo performers that are selected will be invited to perform at the conference and will have accompanists provided by SERTEC.

Applicants who wish to submit a CD for consideration should follow the following guidelines:

Solo
• Any music may be performed.
• Pieces that require accompaniment must be recorded with an accompanist.
• Previously recorded live performances are permitted and encouraged.
• The recording should not exceed 15 minutes in length. Applicants may play more than one piece, provided that the total amount of music does not exceed 15 minutes.
• Only CDs should be submitted. Please, no DAT, mini-disc, or cassette tapes.
• For programming purposes, we request that the winning applicants plan to perform the music that is submitted on their recording.
• CDs must be received by December 10, 2004. Applicants will be notified of their status no later than February 1, 2005.
• All CDs should be clearly marked with the applicant’s name, instrument, phone number and e-mail address.
• CDs will not be returned to applicants.

Quartet
• Quartets should submit a CD of music of their choosing. The CD should not exceed 15 minutes in length and should include at least two compositions of contrasting style. Quartets that are selected to perform at the conference will each be given a thirty-minute time slot.
• Previously recorded live performances are permitted and encouraged.
• Only CDs should be submitted. Please, no DAT, mini-discs, or cassettes.
• CDs must be received by December 10, 2004. Applicants will be notified of their status no later than February 1, 2005.
• All CDs should be clearly marked with the name, phone number and e-mail address of one representative member of the quartet.
• CDs will not be returned to applicants.

Please send all CDs, by December 10, 2004, to:
