Mirafone 183-4U alternate fingering

Decided to pull out the Mirafone last week after leaving it sitting for about 2 years. The rehearsal hall last night was quite warm and I could not get the F (first space below the staff) to come up in tune. It was about a half tone flat with all slides in tight and either conventional fingering: 13, or 4. Could be that I was just real rusty on that horn, having not played it for a while. I will try another mouthpiece. Last night I was using a UMI No2, which is a 'piece I used to like on this horn. I will try the Dillon PS3 I have to see if it gets better. Meanwhile...got any advice :?: I know the Tinker plays a 183. How about it? Any words of wisdom?

I sold my Mirafone 183 (Eb) quite some time ago. I don't recall having any problems with the F. Now.... notes below the D below the staff... THAT's a different story altogether.
