You know, I don't really like the phrases "smacks Army band" or "hits Army band". The individual operating the parachute was obviously a Quality Control official from UMI testing the durability of their products in the field.

You all know UMI's motto: "If it can't withstand a hit from an out-of-control parachutist, it ain't UMI!"

You guys wouldn't happen to have the tuba part for Stars and Stripes Forever arranged for piccolo, would you?

The video of the parachutist clobbering the sousa player was actually on the news last night....they said the parachutist was going about 50 mph. Really whopped the sousa player. I guess the parachute got tangled in itself and the guy was unable to steer it...I don't think they normally want to land at that speed. Looked like he coulda maybe pulled his feet a little higher though....but I expect he was doing the best he could under the circumstances.

It would have been ironic if the band had been playing March of the Belgian Paratroopers.

Mojo workin':

Hearing King Crimson after some 20 or 30 years of not having heard them pretty much blew me out of the water.

Generally I prefer to be of few words if not silent. My ability to communicate is compromised (too much King Crimson...or something, maybe?) as I use vague figurative expressions that make sense only to me.

(I actually own a cassette of them but it is probably dead from having 20 or 30 years of non-use.)

k001k47:

I have been hanging around here some 8 or 9 years and actually know one of you. If he asked me to leave I would.

But I sure don't think I am trolling, and I am sorry if that's what you think, and I am sorry if my comment bothered you in any way.
