hey guys and gals,
because i'm up soo late there are infomercials running and something caught my eye and made me wonder: has anyone tried using a steam cleaner to clean/sanitize their horn? (silver. not really sure if this would work well with laquer) in the commercial it shows him cleaning a silver bathroom faucet. it takes off everything and shines it at the same time and since it's steam it gets to those nooks and crannies that can be hard to reach. and it's not hot enough to burn you which i would think wouldn't hurt the horn. here's the site:

if someone has had success i might shell out the cash. in the long run i could see this saving money on polish/cleaners. take a gander!

If the nozzle shoots the steam out with enough pressure, it might clean up the horn, but I would bet on still needing to use a towel/polishing cloth on it. Watch out for steam burns, and next time you plan to stay up late, just go to bed...or maybe not. Your proposal was quite entertaining.

thanks for the input. reason for being up so late: first available showing of The Dark Knight was at 1:45 for the imax. (and it was worth it.) as stated, i'd be doing this to a silver horn so the removal of lacquer isn't a concern. in the advertisement he wipes the spots he's steamed so there is some wiping but nothing as labor intensive as polishing a horn. is there ANYONE that's tried ANY VARIATION with good or bad results? thanks.
