This music is known, but not widely played over here. Once in an amateur orchestra I found the 3rd horn part in my folder, but as composers more were accepted by snobbism than by their music, Nicolai was rejected by the strings. Maybe also because there are some fast passages, which would occupy trumpeters' fingers in a quintet transcription.
The 3rd horn part was in C concert, which makes F as he original key very likely.
Your thread made the first few bars of the main theme repeat themselves in my ears again and again, but listening to the Monk video of another thread made them go again.
I didn't find any brass 5-tet arrangements, and I don't find them likely, except that an extremely virtuoso group has made something up for themselves.

Hmm, that would be an interesting performance. I wish I had the score for it. Might be an interesting arranging project.
