Rich Armandi teaches in the area. His is at College of DuPage a couple days a week, just north of Lisle. I studied with him for several years, from early high-school to college. His phone is 708-771-7757.

Rich Armandi is a very fine teacher, musician, and good guy.

If Rich is not able to accommodate your friend's son in his teaching schedule, e-mail me and I'll recommend another tuba teacher in the Chicago area.

I know Rich Armandi and he is both an excellent tubist & string bass player. I also would recommend Ron Keller who is both a tuba player and director of the Naperville Municipal Band for the last 40 years. He was a junior high band director in Naperville for 35 years.

Another exceptional tuba player and current junior band director in Naperville/Lisle is Emily (Sykora) Binder. While she is a young teacher she is really amazing with kids (and even adults) and really gets them to play beyond what they think is possible and yet have fun doing it. She has had several HS students get accepted into some of the best college studios in the country like Univ. of Michigan. For a young student I couldn't think of anybody better. Email me privately if you'd like contact info.

Having been a student of Ron Kellers and a colleague of Emily Binder, I can also vouch for their teaching abilities. Both have helped students go on to great college careers....

Emily Binder is at Gregory MS I think in dist 204. I'm a 203 brat, but anyone familiar with the programs in dist 204 (Neaqua and Wabansee Valley) these are GREAT musical institutions! The quality of musicians out of these schools is frightening. Bravo to the entire faculty in the music programs there!

Now light a fire under 203 please!!!!!!

Yes, I'm the Director of Sales for The Beautiful Sound, Inc., the Chicago area Steinway/Boston/Essex Piano dealer.

One of the fringe benefits of my job is that I can use our Recital Hall before and after store hours to practice tuba (or piano). It has much better acoustics than my bedroom! :D
