As seen at the *bay section under 'OK gurus, what the heck is this?', many have emailed me asking about the playability of the horn. I can say this. For a true 4/4 horn she really puts out the sound. The creator of this horn did a good job of creating a near open wrap design. the slides all have easy access (except 4 on the back bottom). The intonation is GREAT!!! All through the registers with a miraphone C4 this horn was nails on the stroboconn. The sound stayed dark and centered always.
the only real bummer is that the bell rim is toast. The body is surely an old miraphone that is minus the wreath. There are two slight tears right by the rim, but to be honest, you can't tell by the sound. I may just see what one of the repair gurus thinks on this...
Overall a great horn that is fun to play. I also have new respect for you old Holton players with the long piston throw! But what a great valve section!
