ok, so I know it's not the next great thing in tuba mouthpiece making, but I figure it's something for discussion and something to spark curiosity in others.
http://www.storkcustom.com/html/NYC%20tuba.htm
has anyone played or have any "inside knowledge" of these mouthpieces? Who is this "famous NYC studio musician"?
I'm always of the belief the world never has enough versions of a Helleberg mouthpiece!
discuss...

The only mouthpiece I play on is carved out of pure diamond.

Lets see:
Broken Tooth Receptacle?
Bad Tone Reducing?
Big Tall & Round?
Maybe it only fits "Big Tuba Receivers"?

Sounds like your Basic Treasure Reducer. I wonder what sort of Believability Test Results they are getting by crediting a "very famous" Big Tuba Recordist.

Scooby Tuba wrote:I dunno 'bout the BTR, but with a 34.4 mm diameter their Gieb is a BAM (a big *** moufpiece...).

In the table for the "G" model, it shows both fractions of an inch and millimeters. If you convert them back and forth, they don't match.
inner diameter 1.310" 34.4mm
bore size (Q) .312" 8.4mm
for example, approximately 25.4 mm = 1 inch,
34.4 / 25.4 = 1.354
1.310 * 25.4 = 33.274 (if it's a copy of an original Geib, this is more accurate).
The bore size is even stranger.
bore size (Q) .312" 8.4mm
A "Q" drill bit is 8.4 mm. 8.4mm is .332", not .312". .312" is 7.9375 mm, a 5/16" drill bit. (if it's a copy of an original Geib, .312" is likely more accurate).

You should be careful with those, I hear the tone is a bit bright and hard, it may cut too much if your not careful (never, ever use it on Philip Glass' music). I always go back to my standard original Helleberg made out of 50% platinum, 50% gold and 50% aluminum.
Some research shows that BTR = either
Bad Tone Regulatoror
Big Tuba Routhpiece (they can't say "M's"' in Scandia)

Let's call the subject of the post a marketing ploy to spark interest...I had to come up with something more exotic than titanium!

We could always try Plutonium mouthpieces. They'd be good and heavy, but nobody would be likely play them for long . . .
