Stofer Geib Rim

For those with experience with both, I'm looking for comparisons between the Stofer Geib & Laskey 30 Rims.
Specifically the diameter and feel etc...
Is the Stofer 'like' anything else (at the rim)?
Thanks,
MP

No prices on Lee's website. How much is a Stofer Geib new?

I've heard a Geib cup described as more "parabolic" shaped, rather than the round Bachs or the funnel Hellebergs.

I tried both on Saturday. But even after doing that, the answer is not obvious to me. Yes, maybe the Geib is a bit sharper than the Laskey, but it's not a glow-in-the-dark difference by any means. The rims are about the same width.

But the Laskey feel a little smaller on my face than the Geib. It's not a matter of diameter, but rather just the feel of it on my face.

To answer another question: The Geib is bowl shaped, but without as sharp a corner between the bowl and the throat as a Bach.

But the shape isn't as important as what the mouthpiece does. Arguing that this little aspect of the shape is responsible for that effect won't bring you any closer to a decision until you try one.

Here's an idea: Buy one (I paid about $125 for mine). Try it for several months. If it doesn't work, sell it. As much as most people like it, you should recoup at least a large share of what you paid. What's a reasonable price to pay to conduct such an extended experiment?

Thanks for the replies.

Rick saying they're "about the same width" and "not a glow-in-the-dark-difference" (in sharpness) is enough to get me ordering one.

I'm used to rims more-or-less like the Laskey 30's and want to keep rims at least similar. Some folks seem not to worry about regularly using mouthpieces with completely different rim shapes & sizes.
For me, internal volumes & shapes can change as much as you like, but not so much the rims.

Buy direct from Mr Stofer or do other stores stock them?

Cheers!

I use a Conn Helleberg and would like to try a mouthpeice with that style rim but a rounder "Geib" cup.

Would a Laskey 28, 30 or the Stofer/Geib be closer to the Conn rim?
