Walter Hilgers recordings, etc

Post by jimgray »

Hi all-

I just noticed that Walter Hilgers (one of my absolute heros) recorded the Hindemith Sonate 11 years ago http://www.amazon.com/Hindemith-Complet ... B0000021F3" target="_blank and more recently recorded the VW http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/r/Genuin/GEN86064" target="_blank

Has anyone heard either of these?

While we are on the topic, what is your favorite WH recording (solo, chamber or orchestral)?
I would very much like to find some prime WH in orchestra (NDR or other).

thanks-
Jim

I have got the Vaughan Williams recording recording. Actually my favourite rendition of the concerto - really beautiful sound :)

Hilgers also sounds wonderful on the North German Radio/Wand Bruckner symphony recordings

I love his playing with the Laubin brass ensemble on their Bach for Brass CD. I heard it on the radio and had a heck of a time finding the CD, because there are so many wrong ways to spell Laubin. On the radio they pronounced it LOY-ben.
