Hello Everyone,
Even though there are some remarkable recordings out there, I went ahead and put up the quartet recording from my senior recital. This was back in March of 1998, and there is a little story behind it.
I was really fortunate to work with John Rider, Wade Rackley and Raul Rodriguez. When I was but a freshman at North Texas, I was honored to be asked by these guys to play the Stevens Dances (I played 4th part) on Raul's Master's Recital. I told them way back then that when I played my senior recital, no matter where they were, they would have to come back and play Dances for me on my recital. What a whiny kid I must have been...
Years later, (we won't say how many...but it was far more than 4) I finally did my senior recital, and begged these guys to come back. They had all moved on to great gigs. John was/is a member of an Air Force band in Ohio (or some place!) Wade was/is principal tuba of a symphony in Mississippi, and Raul was/is a Tuba professor at what was then called Southwest Texas State University. It was so much fun to have these guys come back after all those years. We played one rehearsal and then the performance. It was good, and I have cherished that memory ever since.
Not the best recording out there, but I like it. One note, I played the solo part on movements 1 & 3. John Rider is the gorgeous sound you hear on movement 2.
I edited out the "ad. lib." sections. I felt I probably would have to get their permission to put that up somewhere, and frankly I was too lazy to get their permissions...
Be well, let me know what you think, by email. Have a good day fellas.
