After comparing the cup and rim on my Bach 30E with a friend's 30CB I cut the shank down so my 30E would fit into my bass trombone and went happiliy down the road. The rim appears to be the same 30 mm, although I remember the CB as being a bit narrower with a sharper lip. The cup on the CB seemed a bit deeper, more funnel shaped to me. All in all I am very happy with my 30E conversion. Played a gig on it Saturday in fact. The octave below the bottom space F just pops out. It is a little brighter than my bored out 60 but that's ok in the context, bottom of a jazz trombone choir, that I use it. Pitch is fine. The added facility is a positive trade off.

I am interested in hearing about the use of the 30E on a modern 3 valve Bb bass trombone, as I have realised, that I hardly will be able to afford a contrabasstrombone. Hence I have just started with experimenting myself. I use the DW5 on my older and heavier 1st generation Sovereign bassbone. Appears to work well in respects of playability, but I havent come to the finer checking of tuning, yet.
As for the 30E and 32E they were made for the Barcone baby sousaphones:
