Double Quintet

Post by scouterbill »

We are planning a joint concert with another brass quintet and are looking for a few tunes to do together. I have looked at the Robert King catalog but don't know much about the pieces and hate ordering music blind. Anybody have some suggestions? We will be performing in a church and have an excellent pipe organ and organist available. You know any big "rattle the walls" pieces for brass and organ?

There's a really nice arrangement of Light Calvary Overture for double brass quintet. I forget who arranged it though....

If you have some time, there are lots of double-chorus things out there to steal - Hassler, Scheidt, Sweelinck, Gabrieli. Or double up on that big old Richard Strauss fanfare. With some clever antiphonal seating and some practice, that could bring the walls down.
