Ran across this browsing their site this morning. Tasty playing.

One of the things that impresses me about OB, besides his playing, is his overall style. His album covers are very tasteful and just plain cool. No bad jokes, stupid cliches, no boring "another guy holding a tuba."

Wow, I didn't know this landed on the Naxos Music Library so soon! They really do have a lot of great tuba albums there.
Thanks!!

Just listened to it while at work, and now more than ever, I am convinced that I need to order this from Bryan Doughty before the price goes up at the end of the month....
What great playing!!

I asked Oystein about the new cover a while back because I was curious how he was able to get the tuba to stand up up in the sand. The answer was "I stuck it in the sand." Apparently getting the sand out of the tuba was a different story!
Some more covers can be found here:

I borrowed the Danzas cover for the recent Octuba Tour poster. The poster can be found at this link:

I have extra posters and will be putting them in with any orders from my site until they are gone....
As for covers, the Danzas CD is my personal favorite!
We are currently booking Oystein's February 2009 tour which will be the first week of February after the Army Tuba Conference. For more info, please contact me off the list.

The last few, starting with
Danzas, have been nice. But the FIRST couple--sheesh!--he managed to find the perfect combination of absolutely-no-fashion-sense and overt pomposity. Much as I was interested in the music, I had to get past the artwork on those before eventually buying, which took some time.

I guess everyone just has different tastes, that's OK (otherwise we would all play Stratocasters.) I do find some of the earlier ones interesting, though. I love the totally non-traditional tuba pose in the first album, and the "elegant" cafe portrait.
Apologies if you are talking about albums that predate these, that I am unfamiliar with.
