When was that model introduced?

I was very interested to find out in the 'Wonderful Neptune' thread that the Neptune was first available in 1994 and that got me wondering when other models of tubas were first introduced.

Did the 2165 come out before, or after the Neptune? From when was the PT-6 available? How long have those classic Miraphone 186 and M-W 25 been made?

I do not remember reading such on TubeNet. If you know when a model of tuba (any model) was introduced (maybe you bought one of the first available!), please post. It will make an interesting reference resource.

To start the ball rolling, I believe the M-W 2040/5 Eb was first introduced in late 2003.

Miraphone started making the 186 in the 60's, at least in its current form, and going on my fuzzy memory. They were making rotary tubas before that, though not in much quantity. The company is a consortium still and was started by refugee instrument makers from the Grazlitz vicinity who escaped west after the war.

The 2165 came out in about 1991 or so, plus or minus a year. The first one I played was at Orpheus in San Antonio, and Lee Hipp auditioned one around that time. That was the first year that VMI instruments were offered, because I was out at Orpheus to try a VMI 2103-style instrument and took the opportunity to make my farting sounds on the 2165 while I was there. I think I could do a lot better now, heh, heh.

Don't know about the others.

I know there was a CC and BBb B&S in '85. Don't ask me what models.
