My Junior Recital is coming up next semester, and I am currently working on a few pieces for it, but I still need a good solid unaccompanied piece. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to anything. I have until March 31, 2009, so it's not like I'm in too big of a rush either.

The Spillman Four Greek Preludes is wonderfully neglected music. I can't find a recording of the piece other than 3 of them done on bass Trombone by Ed Anderson. You could do one or two of these on a recital. If interepreted well, amazing music.

again, if multiphonics and a little 'out there' stuff, like tapping etc, is what you want...ITEA Press has "Two Motets" by Ed Pearsall. Great piece, it'll make you multiphonics ability really strong, and both are fun to play and listen. I'm especially fond of the second, "Air", which originally was titled "Prayer".

Monolog 9 by Erland Von Kock is a great piece that i dont believe gets played enough. It has been recorded by Micheal Lind (but personally i dont think it does the piece justice).

back in the day, I played a work on my recital by William Presser, "Suite for Tuba" in three movements. Also "Incon Sequenza" by Bramert is a piece I worked on. "Ten Tiny Tunes" by Burnett Tuthill(?) is another.
Does Robert King still publish the "Brass Players Guide"? There must be quite a list in there.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but a few that come to mind are:

Lyri-Tech by Eugene Anderson
Six Pack by James Meador

You can find Lyri-Tech on Cimarron Music and you can find Six-Pack on Warwick Music. The nice thing is you can listen to a sample of the Anderson piece, and there is a video of Tim Buzbee (player six-pack was commisoned for) playing the entire thing.

James Meador is a superb bass trombonist that actually taught at the local university, but got a gig in Mexico.

I ordered an unaccompanied piece once but sent it back. They screwed up and forgot to send me the piano part with it!
