Friends,

This evening my low brass colleagues from the Pacific NW Ballet Orchestra and I had hoped to briefly play tuba quartets in Ed's honor near his favorite perch at McCaw Hall (Seattle's renovated Opera House). This is our tribute and is not part of PNB's official tributes.

Due to traffic issues andf the tenor trombonists' bad commutes, we're going to postpone this for now.

Stay tuned. . .

Official tributes? We've heard about Ian Newhall's thing, 11 AM Saturday at McCaw? (http://www.riptubaman.org/), and the football game on the 23rd. Are these the official tributes, or are there yet more events that I don't know about?

Donn and fellow tubenetters,

My "official" was referring to what the ballet is doing. It is my understanding that PNB has a giant photo of Ed up in the lobby of McCaw Hall and is dedicating "Rep. 2" (our current ballet program) to Ed.

There are numerous events going on and being proposed.

The Seahawks are having a meeting tomorrow, our Bass Trombonist is talking to PNB Management. . . Once things solidify I'll try to sort it our and post more information.

Many of us are interested in steering the donations to help fund the prevention and investigagtion of this sort of violent crime. A lot of possibilities have been mentioned but my opinion is that this would be the most appropraite use of the donations.

I know that there has been a ton of press on all of the memorials and tributes so here are a few things folks might not know:

1) Some community tuba players are putting together a high quality tuba/euphonium ensemble to play at one of the stadiums on Wednesday. Their call time is a few hours before the memorial (4PM) to select final repertoire and to rehearse. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this one but if you're interested (especially if you're a euphonist) please send me a PM.

2) Tomorrow night the PNB low brass will perform tuba quartets in honor of Ed prior to the evening ballet in the lobby of McCaw Hall.

3) http://www.riptubaman.org" target="_blank" target="_blank is the site for tomorrows 11AM Brass Ensemble gathering.
