Recordings of the Rolf Wilhelm Concertino

Howdy folks!

I'm looking for recordings of the Wilhelm. Currently own Patrick Sheridan's Storyteller CD but would like more than one reference point.

Tuba source book indicates that Jens Bjorn-Larsen recorded it. I've found references on the web.. even the website of the band that he recorded with, but no way to purchase.

Also, supposedly Michael Bunn has a recording. Found his bio and where he teaches but no source for his cd. Might just email him but thought I would see what could be found here first.

On another note, suggested reference recordings for the Gregson Alarum other than the Skillen and Gourlay recordings?

If you have access to a university library, you should be able to get some CDs through Interlibrary Loan. Here's the worldcat.org listing for CDs with the piece.

My personal favorite is Andy Miller's with the Western Michigan University wind ensemble. His take on it is quite interesting, and the ensemble is well rehearsed and plays very well with him.

Of all the 'bands' I've played with, the groups from WMU (with Dr. Spradling) have always always been my favorite. They may not have the huge pool of DMA and MM students to pull from, but they always play the best as an ensemble.

Anyhoo, the ensemble back up Andy to the letter; excellent recording. You will have to contact him privately for a recording though...
