Who would you commission?

I have a question to ask all you final people out there in tubaland, mainly because I want to see what type of answers I get.
Now, imagine you had enough money to commission any one living composer to write a large-scale work for the tuba. With these scenario in mind, who would you commission? I am torn between two people at this moment: New York musician and composer John Zorn, and composer Paul Lansky, (check out Prof. Lansky's website for some cool music:
http://www.paullansky.org/.)
Anyways, if anyone would like to comment on who they would like to see write a new tuba piece, please do so!
Thanks,
Aaron Hynds

sure or 2 tubas going in and out of phase to a tape of someone talking for 40 min would be sexy.

Hmm. . .
My first vote goes to Elliot Carter (100th birthday is in 10 days; recently wrote a horn concerto)

Naw, think more in the direction of
Desert Music, rather than
Drumming.
Rick "who likes John Adams on that short list, too, or Danny Elfman, since Broughton has already composed something for us" Denney

Keith Jarrett, or Chick Corea.
Bix Beiderbeck. Hey, BIX LIVES!!!
Pete Townsend.
Brian May.
John Corigliano
Peter Schickele (NOT PDQ Bach)
Tom Lehrer (actually, I'm sort of ashamed to say I thought he had died long ago...)

John Adams would be my first pick, though I don't imagine it as a large scale concerto but more of a sonata or a chamber concerto (think Road Movies or Gnarly Buttons). I'm also a fan of Street Song so what about Michael Tilson Thomas? Then again, I'd be more happy with a piece that a composer wrote be cause he/she was inspired to write for the tuba.

Time for three
These guys are amazing, and love new music.... they are on FIRE!

I had a piece comissioned for myself, and the Principal Bassist of the Philidelphia Orchestra last year. Ranaan Meyer is a fantastic composer and LOVES writing for low unusual instruments and I tell you, they are just a lot of fun!
These guys are playing December 6th at Heinz Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. If you are in the area, this is a MUST ATTEND event!

The project above was filled to capacity in only a few days. Maybe something like this would work for Elfman, Adams, Zorn, etc.? Out of curiosity, has anyone asked any of these composers to compose something? You may be surprised about costs. Surprising on either side that is.
A couple years ago I spoke with Bruce Broughton about the possibility of composing a Tuba Quartet. He was more than willing to do it, but had no time.... Maybe I will try again next year. If you have not played his Brass Quintet, it is quite a cool chart!

One more for Adams. Not only do I like his work, but from the orchestral pieces I've played, he has an excellent feel for the tuba.

Brian Eno.
Second for John Corigliano.
John Cage would be interesting, to say the least.

Another vote for John Zorn!
(I'd also like to hear more from Dave Douglas with Tuba involved. "Mountain Passages" is a great CD!)

Two of my favorite composers! I'm for John Corigliano as well.

Yeah TD! Good list.
I'd add Alvin Lucier, Roscoe Mitchell, "Blue" Gene Tyranny, Phillip Glass, Russell Peck, Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster, Meridith Monk
SO much untapped space.
Tuba Concertos need to go BEYOND "Pops night"!
