Just watched a special on the Pentagon Channel (for those of us overseas) highlighting the DC Bands. Check out http://www.pentagonchannel.mil/ and go to Recon and then click on Mission of Music. There's a section on Phil Franke's son, now a violinist with the President's Own Marine Band. That makes three generations of their family that have served with the band.
