What about just taking your mouthpiece and a length of plastic tube to fit the end of your mouthpiece. You will be able to buzz on the mouthpiece and the tube will provide some resistence to help keep things in check.

Depending on your horn, you may or may not have to pay oversize charges. Do you have a flight case? Perhaps you could borrow or rent one before you leave.

I'm here in Meridian, ID (about 10min away from Boise), but I was not able to find a tuba...yet. I tried contacting the tuba instructor at BYU-Id and at Boise. I realize it's the week of Christmas, so I'm not trying to look for anything any time this week. If anyone knows of any music stores (possibly to rent?) around Idaho, that would be great. I leave in about 2 weeks, so I just need any horn to blow on til then. I'll keep buzzing for now. Like I said before, thanks for those who responded.

P.S.-There's nothing wrong with buzzing (or even buzzing through a pipe), but I have an audition a couple of days right after I get back to San Antonio. My horn was also way over the limit for the airport to take. Thanks again!
