I have seen them, and have used them for my f tuba. They are the actually very sturdy, but 6/4 tubas do not fit on them.

A friend of mine has one of these. He says as long as you make sure you put the tuba onto it right, it'll survive most anything (save earthquakes), but it's precarious if you don't put the instrument on right.

I don't see why anyone would want their instrument that far from the ground, though-- at least with floor stands, if the thing should tip over, it's only got its own height to fall.

Seriously...has anyone seen these in person?

A euph player in one of my bands uses one as a resting stand, mainly because of the bell-front. That sucker is guaranteed to have someone trip over the wide-set legs at least once a rehearsal.And, it takes up a ton of space.

It looks like it would be perfect for playing a Marzan.

I have one and use it ( at home only ) for my euphonium. It's very sturdy and made of very strong heavy gauge steel. I suites my needs perfctly . I needed somthing that I could leave my euphonium in with out worrying about it being knocked over by the kids. It sits in a corner on a carpeted floor.
I'm not sure what the concern with the tripod legs is because that's a very sound way to support a heavy load. I've seen the most common tuba/euphonium stand with 4 feet stretched out on two rails and the horn balanced in the middle. That one looks to be more easily tipped over to me .

My only real concern is the two half loops that the horn actually rests on . I would like to see them be a bit longer.Especially the top one that the bell rests on .

This stand is very heavy and isn't as compact as as others. I don't recommend it as a carry around stand to use while playing at rehersals or during a perfromance. It is great for at home use where you want to leave your tuba/euphonium out for easy acess for practicing.
