TubaChristmas--Philadelphia

And a fine TubaChristmas it was! I understand there were 123 registrants, plus 3[?] members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, including Carol Jantsch. Held under the soaring roof of the Kimmel Center [150' high??], the sounds are still echoing around up there somewhere! Under the able direction of Jay Krush [Chestnut Brass], this was a really nice event. Going from last year, participation was up about 40 players, including maybe 10 Sousaphones [up from zero last year], one 1889 raincatcher in beautiful condition, a Civil War era baritone played in uniform, a G bugle, several marching baritones, convertible tubas and many really neat-looking tubas of all kinds. Though crowded, I can speak for most that a good time was had today!
