While there are many instrumental and vocal pieces that could be transcribed for this purpose, what duets composed specifically for tuba and tenor trombone would you recommend?

You might try to hunt down some of the work played by Bill Roper (tuba) and Michael Vlatkovich (trombone)--jazzy, improvisational and a bit weird, but fun.

Reciprocity for Tuba and Trombone by James meador

Very fun piece. Can get really monotonous to the audience unless you really, REALLY emphasize the dynamics. The trombone part is legit and extremely high and VERY taxing. The tuba part is extremely low (probably should only be done on the pedals of a nice bass tuba, unless someone is damned brave on a cc). The parts go well together and the theme is catchy.

When myself and a VERY GOOD up and coming trombonist did it (paul niedbalski), we decided to use the bass trombone alternative part (which is just the tuba part up the octave) on many occaisions. We did this because it really helped the piece come together a bit and cleaned up the syncopated sections.

Thanks for the suggestion. Who publishes and sells the written scores?

I'd try emailing Roper directly: kyanite@pacbell.net" target="_blank.

Jessica and Tim Buzbee performed a duo on a video I saw, but I don’t remember the details. Anyway they would be in the know about exactly that kind of repertory.
