Have you tried a B&S Neptune? I had no trouble going from the Besson 981 Eb I was playing at the time to a Neptune - using the 6/4 for Tchaikovsky 5 with the orchestra after only one month.reitan wrote:...if only I could find a bat CC which handles as easy as Eb-bass

The Cerveny 701 could certainly be used for the Tchaikovsky, but requires a lot more effort (air) and control (in note slotting). No way could I have mastered in one month. I used to use a Bach 24AW with the 981, I mostly use a PT-90 on my Neptune and a PT-48 on the Cerveny. I occasionally put the PT-48 (in combination with the large bore leadpipe) on the Neptune if I want a really broad tone (e.g. I would for Wagner Ring).oedipoes wrote:Would that have worked with the cerveny 701 too, or is that one a lot less nimble?
For complete information: what moutpiece did you use on the 981, and which one on the neptune and on the 701 ?
