Music Stores in Canada

Post by Ames0325 »

I have done a few searches online and on this site haven't been able to come up with an answer so
Are there any music stores in Eastern Canada Specifically Ontario or Quebec where one could go to look at tubas?
Or Would it be worth the trip and exchange rate to take a trip down to Dillon's or Baltimore Brass?

The Long and McQuade in Toronto (Bloor and Ossington) usually has an alright selection of professional tubas though nothing compared with the larger stores in the US. If you happen to be in town, I would check it out but it's probably worth the trip to Baltimore or Dillion's if you want to try a wide selection.

You might have some luck at Cosmo music's new location (10 Via Renzo Drive Richmond Hill ON L4S 0B6). If you're in the GTA it might be worth a try. I hear it can be pretty hit and miss though.

I can understand why Cosmo might be known for being 'hit and miss' as we've just opened at our new location last May. Since then we've been fortunate enough to have a serious increase in traffic through the store. I'd been struggling to keep some items in-stock as we've never had so much to replenish! I'm the head of the Band and Orchestra Department at Cosmo Music and I'm actually quite proud of what we've accomplished in building the largest single music store in the world.

Right now my tuba wall is quite full of student model instruments and 3 horns that I, myself enjoy (YEB321, YCB822, YCB822S). Those are the pro/intermediate models in-stock at present, but I'm crossing my fingers that we might secure some models of the German persuasion in the next short while.

If the OP (or anyone else for that matter) has any questions about Cosmo Music please drop me a line.

It's quite a cool spot to visit and I still get people walking around with awe-struck expressions at the vastness of the space.

All the best,
