Redlands versus Northwestern

I'm looking at attending either the Pokorny/Hawes seminar in Redlands or the Martin/Pokorny seminar at Northwestern. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a reason to pick one over the other. That is to say, is the seminar in Redlands worth flying with 2 horns or spending 3-4 days in the car versus a comfortable days drive to Chicago.

I agree with the above posts.

I'd also add that if Gene and Rex are sharing a masterclass/masterclasses, you could not do any better in finding a seminar concerning tuba performance. If it is run like Northwestern's Arnold Jacobs masterclass week, you will get to hear some of the best lecture material, plus coaching of seminar participants. If I were in school, I would not miss this.

Yep, plus there are lots of other fun (and musical) things to see do in Chicago. Maybe you can throw in a Cubs/Sox game while you're there or go see the CSO at Ravinia.

Thanks for all the responses. I was really looking to make sure that I wasn't missing anything special by going to Chicago rather then Redlands and it looks like both would be great, but Northwestern is so much closer and seems like a great program. Thanks a lot.
