BOBO TT Mouthpiece experiences?

Dear Netters,

I'm just wondering if you have any experiences with this Tenor tuba mouthpiece or even with its replica ? Does it fit in a "normal" euphoniums leadpipe? All the pictures you can find on the internet seem to me as a nomal tuba mouthpiece, I can't see for example the diffeence in the shank size.
Do you have pictures about it?

Any answers much appreciated!

Vilmos

It has the same shank as a bass trombone mouthpiece. It will fit in MOST new euphoniums, but won't fit in small-shank horns like the Yamaha 321, nor medium-shank horns like older Bessons.

The reason I'm asking it, is that I have a video tape about Mr. Bobo recording the Liberation of Sysiphus by John Stevens and I've only recognised it now after several years, that Mr. Bobo played the last few bars on his Alexander Tenor Tuba with the prototype mouthpiece of the TT mouthpieces. Although I can play the passage on the big tuba, I've found it a good idea to keep the rim of my tuba mouthpiece and change the cup etc. to fit into a tenor tuba or a euphonium. So please if you have any more info please let me know about it.

Still v  ery much appreciated! :tuba:

A couple months ago I asked Yamaha if I could get a TT with a "tenor" shank to fit my old Conn. I was very clear and so were they. They can be had with bass shank only. Maybe someone else can get them to open up, but I couldn't. For me it was "Not nobody not no how." If I ever do get one, apparently it'll have to be a custom job, which I can't afford right now.

I have the Roger Bobo Solo TT in gold. And you can have it....... for a price. Seriously I have been very dissapointed with it on a Bass Trombone. It's ok on my Euph, nothing great for sure, but ok. It seems the problem stems from such a large rim and cup with a smallish throat bore. It just backs up at the throat and leaves you feeling like an oboe player. I am much happier with the Bach 30E Eb tuba mouthpiece that I cut the shank down on to fit my Bass Trombone. The TT is certainly a Bass Trombone shank. No doubt.
