The HBA is a week-long brass music course aimed to give serious student and amateur brass musicians a week of intense learning in the art of brass music. The Academy's goal is to challenge players while participating in a rewarding musical experience.

The summer of 2009 is the inaugural year for the HBA. The session will run from Monday July 27th to Friday July 31st in the village of Haliburton, Ontario, 225km North East of Toronto. Musicians who play orchestral brass instruments from all over are welcome. The program will be 5 days of large and small ensemble rehearsals, sectional workshops, and optional private lessons, all leading up to a public concert at the end of the course. During the course, students will improve their overall musicianship, as well as improve their individual intrument technique, sense of tuning, and ensemble playing.

The HBA is geared towards intermediate or advanced adult amateur brass players, as well as advanced high school students preparing for post-secondary studies in music. The ensemble repertoire played will range around grades 4 and 5. Accepted applicants will receive their music in advance of the course in order to prepare ahead of time.

* Application Deadline - Friday, May 29th, 2009
* Sheet Music Mailouts - end of June, 2009
* Course Start - Monday, July 27th, 2009
