Academy Awards - Tuba Player?

I watched the Academy Awards tonight and loved the show but, when they swung around to show the orchestra, while the tuba was quite visible, the tuba player was in the dark. Any idea who it was?

The show, as always, about the film and entertainment business, was structured to to emphasize entertainment; business was not so prominent as it has been in recent years. Who knew Anne Hathaway could sing?

Yes, I saw that shot of the tuba but couldn't see who was playing. I'd bet it was Jim Self. Looked like a CC tuba. The Academy Awards orchestra is really top notch every year-------probably a very high-pay gig for the best-of-the best studio players.

Ann Hathaway's singing surprised me too--------what was that high note she nailed? Ab, A?

From Alex Iles:
The Oscar bone section was me, Charlie Loper on tenor bone. Andy Martin on bass and tenor. Alan Kaplan on bass and tuba.
Don't know if there was another tuba player as well as Alan Kaplan, but I doubt it...
