Some replicas of baroque trumpets have added vents (small tone holes raised saxophone/flute style). I cannot see them on this sample, but they may be there. Try to watch the right hand fingers of the player.

There are holes on it. You can see his fingers moving during the fast parts.

no,no,no,no,no....

To do this right, you have to do it this way:

Stage presence?

J.c.S. (who couldn't play in that dress...)

P.S. Trombone players have know about valves being for sissies for a loooong time :-)

How in the world does one haul that instrument from gig to gig? Does it have sections that screw together or clamp together? (I did not see signs of either in the two videos.) If not, I will never again complain about hauling my little ole 1241 around.

The alphorn player was truly amazing. I am wondering how high he was playing above the fundamental pitch to get all those notes. My guess is at least 4 octaves plus...

Pedal note
8va
8va
8va
8va - above 4 octaves above the fundamental

I couldn't tell by just listening, but I bet most of you can. Thanks...

(I WAS pleased with my current range...)

Pretty cool...

The Alpflyinghorns (carbon fiber) are easier to transport -- lighter and more compact -- but the wood horns aren't too bad either (most come apart into three 4-foot sections, which fit into a canvas carrying bag; we do have one that separates in the middle, into two 6-foot sections). They're all fun to play! :D :tuba:
