Hi-
Just wondering if anyone has some Gebr. Alexander Mainz instrument catalogs from the 1950's, '60's, '70's--if anyone has any of these, might they post some of the pics/info on the euphoniums & tubas that they made during this period-besides the usual 163/164/155/157/151 models of BBb, CC, Bb and/or F tubas. Many thanks.
Regards-
mark

I have one from the 30's, will that help? I may have one other, but I think it is more recent, 80's perhaps. I think Klaus has one on his website also.

Hi-
Yes, the one from the 30's would be helpful, as well as the one from the 80's (if you have it). Thanks-

Dave-
I would be extremely interested in seeing a catalog from the early to mid 1980s, if that happens to be what you have. Post here or feel free to PM or email me.
Of course the early catalog would be neat to see, too.

OK, I dug out the catalogs. Certain to disappoint, here are the descriptions: 1920's (? no date)catalog says Gebruder Alexander on top, but then Sudwesdeutsche Generalvertretung der Firma Bohland & Fuchs, Graslitz. So it is a B&F catalog, and Alexander was just the seller. It has the typical plate engravings showing various brass instruments, incl. B and F tubas, and it gives dimensions, etc.
The Alex catalog is a nice glossy from 1987, but has only history, horns and Wagner tubas in it. No other brass.
So if there is still any interest I will scan them and post. But not until next week when I can use the scanner at work. If pics from my camera are sufficient I can do that tomorrow.

My brass galleries holds Alexander catalogue material from 1976 and 1985. There are some huge files, which it would make no sense to dilute to fit the maximum of 256K here. Mail me via the button to the right (please no PM, as I do not like to clean out my in-box), and I will invite to my Yahoo based project.
There are other catalogues also plus photo documentation of 5000+ brass instruments,
Klaus
