Gig Bag for a Besson 983

I recently picked up a used 983 from an elderly former student who doesn't want to play anymore and wanted me to (buy) have it. It came with a Pro Tec bag, which is a bit large for the horn. I will eventaully get around to selling that bag. Can anybody chime in as to what bag fits a 983 well? I am not interested in purchasing the Soundwear reinforced bag, but rather something more baglike and cheaper. I have a feeling this has been discussed before. Thanks!

Glenn Cronkhite makes the best one IMHO. One of his patterns is an exact fit for the 983. Any dealer can get it for you, or you can order direct. Street price should be under $400. Custom cases are made in 2 weeks. They're light, comfortable to carry, very protective for a soft case, and great looking. They're much smaller than the Soundwear cases.

I personally like top loading gig bags, so I have an Altieri bag for my 983. I feel safe carrying it around, knowing there's no zipper to give out causing the horn to tumble to the ground.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I ordred an Altieri bag yesterday. I've always been pleased with them in the past.

I also use the Altieri w my 983... It doesn't offer the protection of the Soundwear bag, but it did come along as part of the deal when I bought the horn... If I ever replace it I'll go with Soundwear, but seeing as how I don't really gig much anymore I doubt that will happen...
