The shank on your mouthpiece is the same size as the shank on a baritone mouthpiece. This I know, because when we put his original mouthpiece in my baritone, it fit perfectly. He had bought a new mouthpiece from Tuba Exchange that was a significantly smaller shank size than a Helleberg, but still not as small as his original. It doesn't seat itself in as deeply as his original, but good enough and he likes it very much. I believe he got a Marcinkiewicz, but I'm not sure.
If it's a Marcinkiewicz, it's probably a 105, 106, or 107 -- "contrabass trombone" mouthpieces on a bass 'bone shank. The 107 is the largest I.D. of the three at just over 30 mm. If a bass 'bone shank mouthpiece works in the OP's York, there are several 'pieces available in that size range (Schilke 60 and variants, Bach 1G, and Loud LM-30 come to mind). Hope this helps! :)

It sounds like you have someone specifically in mind to do this alteration - have you talked with him?

I use a Denis Wick 5 with my wee Italian Eb, and I like it quite well. I also like the freedom to use any mouthpiece that suits me, on my other Eb. Who knows what will work better for you, but at least the repair technician might be able to give you some information you can use.
