I am unable to find a photo of that awesome beaut of a helicon. can someone put it in this thread please?

The larger BBb helicons look like they would be kind of clunky to handle- a little better than a souzy but still a little awkward. The 'two feet shorter' tubing seems to make for a more graceful appearing horn.

this is, IMHO, the most beautiful helicon in existence on the planet earth. I would love, however, to be proved wrong.

Even zooming in I am loosing a bit of what is going on at the rotor valve - is there a bottom or side view of the cluster? Or, simpler, what is the function? There seems to be some "Dead end" pipe on the high side (12 o'clock) of the valve and a crossing pipe heading out at 6 o'clock.)

It is a 5th valve just like all the 5th valves on CC tubas. The dead end piece of tubing was needed so as to have a place to mount the thumb ring if I remember the discussions when he was building the horn.

Thanks - I searched the archives on this horn while I was looking at the picture and did not find anything right away. So, from that particular view the "dead" pipe is actually under the 1st valve loop and a brace for the gooseneck is on the 1st valve pipe? I think I have the motion of the 5th valve trigger figured out now, but another view would be nice.

Heh, heh. Bloke makes his instruments into beauties, and then lets them turn black. I'm glad someone got a picture of this one when it was still fresh from Anderson's.
