Karl Humble passed away Monday morning. May he rest in peace.

Funeral information:
I spoke with French Mortuary in Albq who will be handling Karl's services. This is the information they gave me.

Karl Humlbe was Principal Euphonium in the US Marine Band in Washington, DC. I believe he retired in the 1970's (?) and was living in Albuquerque, NM.

In grad school he rescued my tuba that was badly damaged by an airline. Even though he had Parkinsons disease, he still took on the task of rolling out a damaged bell and aligning bent slides. Took him a week. Charged me $100.00. What a guy.

This is very sad news.

I used to play in a brass band with him for a week in the summer in Gunnison Colorado. I got to play with him several summers. He was a great guy and a fantastic player. He will be missed.

This is a terrible shame. Karl was a true gentleman in every sense. A consumate musician in his day. A wonderful arranger of brass music. And an excellant brass repairman and restorer. I spoke with Karl last Christmas time, and he indicated he wasn't doing too well at that time. I sat next to Karl for 6 years in the National Concert Band of America (along with Arthur Lehman, Harold Brasch, and Buddy Burroughs). Every rehearsal was like a free lesson. During that era, he was, by far, the best euphoniumist in the DC area, in my opinion. Rest in peace, Karl...

Karl was a wonderful human being and an excellent repairman. I never got to hear him play, but my experiences with him were great. He will be missed by all who knew him.
