Not as much fun as that last one. Just waiting on an entrance in a rehearsal of Till last year - with the Neptune.

Dan Schultz did an absolutely masterful job resurrecting this beautiful old Alexander BBb for me. Just a GREAT playing horn.

From another angle; unfortunately, still the same ugly fat guy playing it.

Dean and Willson 3050RZ, 5 RV (4 + 1) CC, with a sousaphone tuning bit and Monette Prana 98 mouthpiece. The occasion was a 2012, post-concert photoshoot of the Reston Community Orchestra members.

The Yamaha is absolute crap. To play the horn one must bend the wrist downwards, pinky toward the forearm. This hurts like hell. I moved my thumb ring and altered the lever to allow my hand to move to a more natural position and it is now acceptable. The other three are all the same and quite comfy, being more or less straight up and down when the horn is pointed to the proper angle.

Here is a smaller version that I can post here. The linked one is huge. PhotoBucket is about to lose all my business because they no longer allow you to link to one image with the image ONLY and not some damned PhotoBucket page with the image on it. I do not want my photos to open into my albums. I want to link to individual photos. I can no longer recommend PhotoBucket because of this. I have recommended them since about 2001. I will have to find something that does what I ask it to do and will recommend that instead from now on.

The tuning slide almost falls out at 440, because the Willson 3050RZ CC was made in Switzerland for higher pitch (about 442-443) orchestras. (Bloke did a typically educational, public service post about European high pitch horn designs a year or so ago.)

I was informed that a longer tuning slide could be ordered, but the tuning bit did the trick. In the summer, I sometimes have to use two tuning bits. The tuning bit also allows me to position my face away from the bell, making it easier to see the music and conductor.

That's a great lookin' stable Wade! Just curious, do you prefer pistons or did that just come about by happenstance?
