I just happened to come across a band roster for the United States Army Band. I have noticed that most of the time principal and section leader are the same in a military band. However, for some sections in some bands, this is not true. Hopefully this question is not too ignorant/stupid: What is the difference between principal and section leader in a military band since they are not always one and the same?
