Is the theme to spider man on any of the disks you received?

We had them as our guest artists at Howard Hovey Tuba Day 1997. They put on an outstanding show, easier for the audience to relate to and appreciate than the solo recital performance medium that we usually have. As with all Tuba Day guests over the years, they attended the post event bash at my house and crashed there before heading back to VA the next morning. My boys doubled up in one of their bedrooms so we could accomodate the 4 guys (trio). Well, we all hit the sack around 2:30am and my boys still talk about how Zach, who slept in Chris' room, stayed up for another 45 min. playing with the Hess trucks, Power Rangers and other toys lying around the room. Fun guys to hang with too.

I was told that Andy no longer plays tuba in the group, but that he plays bass.

They also put on a great show outdoors at the ITEC barbecue in Greensboro in 2001.
Andy had tried my helicon on LI in 1997 and still remembered it well.

I've seen the DPT several times and my copies of 'Out of Control' and 'Greetings from Gumboville' are well-worn. While the cd's are really fine examples of their work, nothing beats seeing these guys live! They would play here in Blacksburg at a Friday afternoon festival in the summer.....and then do another 2-3 hr set at a local cajun restaurant on the roof deck!! Great musicians and great guys to talk with as well! Sadly Andy is no longer playing tuba but is one heck of a bass player!

In 1997 Andy was using a Bohm & Meinl with a carbon fiber bell.
In 2001 he was using a King 2341.

Great band!! Two other albums of theirs, Ain't My Fault and The Virgil Sessions are also fantastic and are in heavy rotation on my iPod at work. On those two, they get away from doing songs heavy on quoted material and do a lot more original stuff, but it's great material. Their collective groove is fantastic; lots of fun to listen to and great musicianship.

Andy K. is/was one of the most physically gifted tuba players I ever met. Sorry to hear he is no longer playing tuba. Hopefully, that was just conjecture on someones part and he is still applying lips to mouthpiece.

Sadly, no conjecture. He was having chop problems that prevented him from playing more than a minute or two at a time. I heard DPT in late 2006 and back then he was seeking medical treatment for the condition but had had no positive results at the time. He was obviously subdued about not being able to play tuba, but the group put on a great show at a chilly outdoor evening riverfest. He still had the same energy, just directed into his bass playing. I do hope some of the medical options have helped. It would be great to hear him again on a horn.
