Mouthpiece suggestions for MW 45SLP F-tuba

Post by Frank Ortega »

Can anyone suggest a good mouthpiece for the MW 45SLP?
I'm trying one out and can't seem to get a good match.

Thanks,

If you don't mind rounded rims, I suggest you try a couple Josef Klier mouthpieces. The 4B and 4C work quite well with the 45slp. The 4C makes the horn sound very "Germanic." If memory serves me, these mouthpieces are pretty cheap ($60 or so) at Dillon's.

I am partial to the MF4, it really sings in the upper register and gives you a dark fulfilling tone, and is great for most bass horns. I played it on a PT-10 and Besson 983
