No Tuba at Oktoberfest?

So, it's Friday, I'm getting thirsty, so I thought I might check out what is going on at Oktoberfest. A quick google search turned up numerous sites.

This one looked good, streaming video w/sound from Hofbräuzelt:

I clicked the realplayer button and was pleased to see a stage with a band. They were on a break. Soon they started and I realized NO TUBA, but electric bass instead! Surely there must be some decent tuba players in Germany such that they would not have to resort to an electric bass. They are (it is live) playing a mix of traditional and pop music.

Why is it that an electric bass is somehow OK for traditional stuff, but a tuba is not OK for pop stuff?

I agree with you Mr. Jensen,a bass guitar is nice to have in any band
but it is not a horn.It has a sustain problem and cannot be played with
the passion a horn can.A tuba player is a horn man and has the power
to make the ladies cry and the men laugh.

Next thing you know they'll have a Jimi Hendrix tribute band at Octoberfest and they'll only be serving Coors Light.
