Anybody own, or play one of these? How well do they play?

OK, I'll bite. Tried one at the ITEC last summer. Not a bad horn at all. Did pretty much everything I asked it to. But I didn't really ask all that much.
Given the wide quality spread among their BBbs, I sure wouldn't buy one sight-unseen.
Anyhow, if you're willing to pay the price for a new St Pete CC, you're probably better off (certainly no WORSE) to look for a used "something-else" in that range or save your pennies for a new "something-else."

I'll second that. I would make it almost a lock that you would be able to pick from any of the used Miraphones available that would be both cheaper and better and hold their value longer.

St.Petes are ok horns I guess, but they don't hold their value much, you'r better off just saving you'r cash for like a meinl weston or b&s, you know something you can make money with then sell it later without loosing to much cash.

I bought one of the first imported by vince with the improved valve specs. I paid $1800 for it,kept it for 4 years and sold it for $2000, wish I had it back. St. Petes BBb's sell for $3300 new and used for $2000 to $2500. That ain't bad. I have a CC now and love it. It slots well and intonation is very good, the 5th valve is tuned a little low for my tastes. Use a funnel type mouthpiece for best results.
