I have played a Mirafone 186 5-U CC for all of my playing life. Mine was built in the mid 60's. I have tried a few mouthpieces over the years, but have always returned to the Mirafone Rose Solo, which seems to allow for the most amount of character -for my instrument, and the way I play. My next choice for a mpce. has been the Wick 1L. I am just curious what other players have settled on. Thanks.

I, too, have played a 186CC Miraphone for a long, long time. For most of that time, I used a Conn Helleberg, and was pretty happy with the results. Recently, in a effort to get a bigger sound for a wind ensemble I am a part of, I did some experimenting. I now use a Mike Finn 3-H for the big sound and use the Conn Helleberg for smaller ensembles. I believe this has worked well for me.

I play exclusively on a late 70’s (I think) wonderful lacquerless "Vintage" 186 4U CC. (Maximus is the name) Poor thing’s been ridden hard and put away wet.

I use a good ol’ Conn Helleberg 7B, and if I really need to honk and sound more like a BAT, I use the standard Helleberg.

I could always try other mouthpieces and all that – but I’ve played on this setup for so long, and I like the sound, so if it ain’t broke...

(I am curious about the stainless pieces tho – if they can replicate my beloved 7B in stainless, I’ll give it a whirl…)

I use the 7B on my 70's (?) vintage 184 and find it locks the notes well and the intonation works too. I also use it on my tiny MW 182 F and it works just as well despite not being an "F tuba mouthpiece." I'm still curious to try a Laskey C30 though.

The C4 and the PT70 works the best for me. I tried several others but these two seem to work for me

I use a Mirafone TU-25 Rose Orchestra on my BBb 186 in big concert bands.
